Delhi's chief electoral office said on Monday that action will be taken only after receiving complaints against former BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir for having two water ID cards. The Aam Aadmi Party candidate, Aashiqui, has accused the cricket leader of knocking on the court, saying that as a voter it is registered in the Rajendranagar and Karol Bagh Legislative Assembly, which is a violation of the Public Representation Act. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said, "We have got information from media reports that Gambhir has been registered at more than one place in Delhi. We have not received any complaints yet. We will investigate and take appropriate action as soon as we receive a complaint.
Election Commission always seeks out information about two names in the voter list before the election. Asked about the seriousness, he said that the process of removing two names with the help of a software is done. If the software remains unaffected in order to catch this kind of irregularity, then the Election Commission may not be considered responsible for it. Gambhir, while denying the allegation, said he had only one water ID card. He said that Maru is the only water ID card from Rajendra Nagar. I used to live with my grandparents in Karolbagh, but I did not apply and voted for a water card from there.
